South Floyd Raiders: 2011 Season Preview & Outlook

People in the Hi Hat community haven't been excited about South Floyd football in quite sometime, although the Raiders have had players that have been good enough to play college football. Numbers have been the biggest problem along with injuries to key players for South Floyd, and this season it looks like their leader will be Weston Little. Little and graduate Dakota Newsome lead the Raiders last season, however it looks like Little will have to do a little of everything for the Raiders this season on offense. He'll receive most of his help from Tyler Moore who looks to be the starting quarterback. Defensively, expect the same names to be the leaders on defense, as the Raiders usually have low numbers to show up to play football for the school.

Outlook:

Aug. 26 - Betsy Layne - The Bobcats have an up-and-coming program while South Floyd's has been at the bottom in the state over the past few years. (BL wins, 44-20)

Sep. 2 - @ Jenkins - South Floyd has struggled over the past several seasons, however Jenkins has a program that South Floyd will almost always be favored over. (SF wins, 50-18)

Sep. 8 - @ Knott Co. Central - Should be a good game, but I'll give Knott the edge at home. (KCC wins, 34-20)

Sep. 16 - @ Morgan County - Morgan County has slowly been getting better over the past few seasons and should be able to win this one, although I expect it to be close. (Morgan wins, 36-27)

Sep. 24 - @ Shelby Valley - The Wildcats return a lot of talent off of a decent team last season. (SV wins, 48-16)

Sep. 30 - Bracken County - Should be a good game and I'll give the Raiders the edge. (SF wins, 30-22)

Oct. 7 - @ Pikeville - The Panthers have owned the district lately and things don't look to be any different this season. (Pikeville wins, 52-12)

Oct. 14 - @ Allen Central - Rivalry game here and anything could happen between two teams that hate one another. I like AC in this matchup though. (AC wins, 36-20)

Oct. 21 - Phelps - The Hornets, like Jenkins, will be a team South Floyd will be favored to win just about every season. (SF wins, 44-16)

Looks like it'll probably be another tough season for South Floyd, but hopefully they can prove me wrong.

Best of luck Raiders!
